Designing the latest in electrical and electronics for vehicles

In today’s vehicles with internal combustion engines, electronics represent 40% of the value of the car, versus about 5% in the 1970s. For electric or hybrid vehicles, that number jumps as high as 75%. As the industry continues to focus on reducing total vehicle weight and increasing electrification, four main trends are driving the development of new electrical parts and components: Mass reduction for cost savings, miniaturization, design flexibility, and better heat management.

Whether it’s for control modules, connectors, or a variety of other e-car parts, Envalior’s broad portfolio of materials has grades specifically suited to each application. Our materials provide best-in-class heat performance, high-flow properties for the design of parts with thinner walls, and halogen-free flame retardancy.

Explore the design of parts that are more compact than their predecessors, with thin-wall components that can improve production cycle times by 25 to 40%. While more electrification of the vehicle also leads to higher voltage demands, our materials are engineered to minimize electrical breakdown in the form of tracking. With best-in-class heat performance, our materials easily withstand the high temperatures involved with surface-mount soldering techniques (SMT), as well as the high continuous use temperatures seen in more compact engine compartments.
